Arthur Cleveland Garfield Monteith, 91, of 223 Forman Ave., Stratford, died Sunday at the Rehabilitation and Extended Care Unit of the Stratford General Hospital.

He was born in the Gore of Downie Township, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John N. Monteith.  He lived and farmed in the Gore of Downie Township for 88 years, moving to Stratford in 1974.

He was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Stratford.

He was predeceased by his wife, the former Ella Elizabeth Koch on Dec. 30, 1967.

Surviving are one son, Allen, of RR 1 St. Pauls; one daughter, Mrs. Floyd (Elva) Binkle, of 223 Forman Ave.; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by one sister, Mrs. Ephraim (Margaret) Meadows, and six brothers, Samuel, James, George, Alfred, Norman and Andrew.  He was the last member of his family.

Friends were received at the Heinbuck funeral home, 156 Albert St., Stratford today from 2 to 5 p.m. where a service was held Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. with Rev. James Ferguson officiating.  Burial was in Avondale Cemetery.
