The following obituary is from the Stratford Beacon Herald's Monday, December 21, 1981 edition.

Monteith funeral
at St. James Tuesday

     Funeral services for J. Waldo Monteith will be held tomorrow
at 2 p.m., St. James Anglican Church where the former cabinet
minister was a member for many years.

     Born in Stratford, he was the son of the late Dr. Joseph
Dunsmore Monteith and the former Allice Chowen.  He was a
lifelong resident of Stratford.

     Surviving are his wife the former Mary Bancroft Strudley;
three daughters, Mrs. John (Sally) Wismer, of Guelph, Mrs.
Laurence (Nancy) Freeman, of Manila, Philippines, and Mrs.
Lorne (Mary) Jardine, of Calgary; one sister Mary Forbes, of 
Orillia; and seven grandchildren.

     Friends will be received at the Heinbuck funeral home 156
Albert St., today between 2 and 4 p.m. and between 7 and 9 p.m.
Burial will be in Avondale cemetery.

     The family has requested any donations be made to the Vic-
torian Order of Nurses' Bursary Fund, 653 West Gore St.

     Honorary pallbearers will include: Charles W. Leeson, of
Toronto, John V. Killer, of Stratford, W. Howard Hemphill, of
Stratford, John Gordon of Toronto, MP William Jarvis, of Ot-
tawa, William Graham, of St.Marys, Thomas Orr, of Stratford,

ford, Frank Powell, of Parry Sound, Fred Irwin, of Toronto, Dr.
N.R. Scratch, of Stratford, Charles Monteith, of London, Robert
Mitchell, Of London, James Johnston, of Cobourg, Sam Douglas,
of Stratford and W. Mac Pratt, of Listowel.
