Andrew Brock Monteith, of 508-136 Ontario St., Stratford, passed away at the Stratford General Hospital on Sunday, November 26, 2000 in his 88th year. Born in Stratford, he was the son of the late William Andrew Monteith and Jessie (Cornish) Monteith.

In 1930, he graduated from Stratford Central Secondary School. In 1934, he graduated from Trinity College of the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree. In 1937, he obtained his Chartered Accountancy designation and was awarded the Gold Medal for the highest marks in Ontario.  With his cousin, J. Waldo Monteith, he established Monteith & Monteith Chartered Accountants in Stratford in 1939.  In 1965, he was named a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario (F.C.A.)  He continued actively in the practice until his retirement in 1995.

Brock was a lifelong member and past warden of St. James Anglican Church, a past member of Stratford City Council from 1947 to 1949, and had been president of the Stratford Chamber of Commerce in 1966.

Beloved husband of Helen Isobel (Wallbridge) Monteith whom he married on November 10, 1939 in Belleville.  Dear father of Andy Monteith and companion Judy Chrysler of Kitchener, Steve Monteith and wife Bonnie of Stratford, Henry Monteith of Stratford, and Janet Monteith of Calgary, Alberta.  Dear grandfather of Mark Monteith and wife Cathy of Stratford, Brett Monteith of Toronto, Craig Monteith of Stratford, Sally Monteith of Bahrain, and Russell Monteith of Scotland.  Also surviving are a sister-in-law Anne Monteith of London and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was predeceased by one sister Margaret South and husband Ted, and one brother Harry Monteith.

Relatives and friends were received at the Heinbuck Funeral Home, 156 Albert St., Stratford on Tuesday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  The funeral service was held at St. James Anglican Church, Stratford on Wednesday, November 29, 2000 at 11 a.m.  Cremation followed with the scattering in God's Holy Acre, St. James Church at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to St. James Anglican Church or to the Alzheimer Society through the funeral home.
