PLYMOUTH MI - On Sunday, August 26, 2001, James E. Monteith, 82, of Plymouth, formerly of Lake Ann, died on Saturday in Farmington Hills. James was born on Sept. 9, 1918, in Detroit. He graduated from Wayne State University in 1954. He married the late Shirley Monteith, who preceded him in death.

      James was a retired architect from Eberle-Smith in 1985. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1940 to 1945 in Europe and in South Pacific. He was a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist in Traverse City and a former member of First Church of Christ, Scientist in Plymouth.

      He is survived by his sons, Clifton (Nancy) Monteith of Lake Ann and David (Patricia) Monteith of Plymouth; a brother, Richard Monteith; a sister, Marie Sturmer; and three grandchildren.
      
Private services were held at the McCabe Funeral Home Canton Chapel.
