Philip July 8, 1906 - September 26, 2001 |
Philip Cornelius Meadows, 95, of RR 1 Embro passed away in Stratford General Hospital on Wednesday, September 26, 2001. He was born in West Zorra Township on July 8, 1906; a son of the late Ephraim Meadows and the former Margaret Florence Monteith. He was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church in Harrington. Philip was the third generation to tend the family farms in West Zorra, where he worked faithfully from the time of the First World War until July 6, 2001. In his later years, he enjoyed showing his potatoes and glads at Tavistock, Embro and Stratford Fairs. He was the dear husband of the former Georgena Janet MacLeod; the devoted father of Gary Meadows, Glenn and his wife Pat Meadows, Gail and her husband Tom Daniells and Wayne Meadows. He will be sadly missed by his five grandchildren Andrew, Erin and Lyndsay Meadows; Jessica and Meghan Daniells. Also survived by his sister Edna Rae; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Lorna and husband Mel MacKay, Doreen MacLeod and husband Harold Calvert, Jean McIntyre, Bruce and wife Marie MacLeod and Mac MacLeod along with several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Ida Munro; his brothers-in-law Andrew Rae, Wallace Munro, Raymond MacLeod and Mel McIntyre; his nephew Claude Rae; his niece Jean (MacKay) Schaeffer and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Lorne and Ella MacLeod. Relatives and friends were received in the Francis Funeral Home, 77 Woodstock Street North, Tavistock on Friday from 2-5 p.m. The funeral service was held in Knox Presbyterian Church, Harrington on Saturday, September 29, 2001 at 2 p.m. Interment followed in Harrington United Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Knox Presbyterian Church, Harrington or a charity of one's own choice would be appreciated and may be made through the funeral home.
