Suddenly in Peru, Illinois on Tuesday, February 27, 2002 in her 75th year, Phoebe Whipple of Utica, Illinois. Dear sister of Malcolm M. Whipple and sister-in-law Rita Whipple of Utica. Sadly missed by nephews Monty, Bill, Mark and Greg Whipple and niece Beth (Whipple) Hahne. She was a daughter of the late Warner Frank Whipple (1969) and Ida Monteith Whipple (1983). Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Warner Whipple (1998) and sister-in-law Doris Whipple (2001). Following her graduation from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1949, she became director of the YWCA Teen program in Bloomington, Ill for 3 years. She went on to teach Jr. High School in Marseilles, Ill for 2 years and in 1954 became executive director of Girl Scouts in Bloomington, a position which she held until her retirement in 198 . Visitation was at the Mueller and Pagani Funeral Home in LaSalle, Illinois on Thursday, February 28th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service was held on Friday, March 1st at 10:30 a.m. at the Waltham Presbyterian Church.
