Chalmers A. Monteith

Passed away March 25, 2002 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC.
 
A veteran of WWII, he served in the European Theater with the 42nd Division Artillery.  A graduate of Miami University (Ohio), he received a MA and Ph.D. from the Ohio State University in Economics.  A long time faculty member at Kent State University, he retiree in 1992.  A charter member of the Presbyterian Church of Kent, he served as clerk of session for 40 years, and was active in Eastminster Presbytery and served as Moderator.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Chalmers and Ruth (Robbins) Monteith.  He is survived by his wife, Ester "Teri"; and his children, Major Laura Monteith of Kent, OH; Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Monteith of Cape Canaveral, FL; and Jennifer Monteith of Annapolis, MD; and grandchildren V. Alexander Monteith and David W. Monteith of Merritt Island, FL; and sister, Marian M. Geib of Ft. Myers, FL.  Calling hours will be 4-8 pm Tuesday, April 2 at Bissler and Sons, 628 W. Main Street, Kent Ohio.  Interment with military honors on Wednesday April 3, 10 am at Standing Rock Cemetery.  Memorial Service will be Wednesday, April 3 at 2 pm at Presbyterian Church of Kent, 1456 East Summit Street, Kent.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Endowment Fund of the Presbyterian Church of Kent or to the Hot Meals Program of Kent Social Services, 1066 South Water St., Kent, OH.
